I found the easiest way to get roms into the correct rom folder is drag & drop files via computer network. I noticed all the emulators weren’t there when I first booted up & scrolled through emulationstation. So I did some googling. Just about every emulator is installed already, all you gotta do is install roms & restart emulationstation & the hidden emulator will show up. Happened for me when I dropped Gameboy roms in its folder. If you want your retro engine to show up in your computers network to drag & drop start>apps>desktop & dbl click retroctrl>turn on. You can web upload this way also.

Hi Kevin, thanks for this. I'm also using drag and drop... way better way of doing things. One quick question which I'm still not clear on... at the moment I am just dropping zip files into the relevant rom folder like arcade etc, is that the way to go or should you be doing anything else. I find it has about a 50% success rate and some games crash the system, so wondering if I'm missing something?
Thanks
F

I havent put zip files in the emulationstation roms folder but I've unzipped the files & pick the games I want. I found a site that gives the ROM codes for regions. I unzip, search (U) for USA in the folder & select all, drag & drop. www.vnoteschronicle.com/notes/rom-codes-explained

I tried dropping ROMS to get the emulator to show up for the SNES. Still nothing 1. If you haven't already, restart emulationstation from the start menu. Press start>quit>restart emulationstation it should show now. 2. Go in to retropie>rpsetup>manage packages>main manage main packages go down to see if your snes9x200* are installed. I myself did the 1st option to install them all.

I have added roms to both Super nes and Genesis, and reset but they still don't appear. All other emulators appeared but not those two.I looked in Retropie setup like you suggested, and it shows all emulators installed in Manage Main packages except SuperNes and Sega geneisi/Megadrive. What do I do then to install them? Hit the option that says Install from source?

Yes.. install from source!!! I just realized one of my N64 emulators wasn't installed, i just installed it from binary. So it's source or binary. Hope this N64 emulator plays games with no lagging.

Under Manage Main packages, I hit the Install from source button, and it said error. I tried this for both SNES ans Genesis. Both said error. Am I doing something wrong? How did you install from Binary? In simple terms though, cause I'm a computer noob that just knows enough to get by.

Im not sure why there's an error. Only thing I can think of is to make sure it's connected to your wifi. Those exact steps worked for me.

I mean, it was passively. Everytime I turned on the RetroEngine, it said it was connected to my wifi as a guest. It let me download roms, etc. However, it dawned on me that as a guest on my wifi, it never promted for the wifi paswword. So, I got on the Armbian web browser from the desktop, and sure enough it asked for the password. I enterd it, backed out and went into Retro Pie and BOOM, it let me download the Emulator from source. So, if anyone gets the error message ERROR RUNNING GIT CLONE DEPTH1, it's probably your Wifi, not letting RetroEngine go Online.

It show's Genesis and SNES emulators as installed, but they still don't appear even after dropping Roms in their folders. Ugh, I give up man.

How are you installing your roms? External USB, Web uploader or network drag & drop via computer? And exactly what folder? Here's where mine are: upload image
